Earth Science: Rainfall

The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration works with other agencies around the world to collect climate data that is used for weather forecasting and long-term climate studies, as organized under a division called the National Weather Service. Through the Climate Prediction Center, the NWS gathers and provides a wide variety of climate data to users in both the public and private sector.

Among the data published for public consumption is a family of Precipitation Time Series for numerous geographic locations around the globe. Rainfall is recorded in daily increments and provided for individual locations in 30, 90 and 365-day time periods, along with total accumulation over the time period and historical normal accumulation.
